Auditions are early September and January, performances are November and March. Please check our events calendar for audtion and performance dates. Auditions require a memorized song about one minute long plus a group reading from the script. The size of the cast can range between 25 and 60 participants. Our performing venue is the Stroede Center for the Arts, 319 Wayne Avenue, Defiance, Ohio. There are no membership fees. Parent involvement is needed.

What Children Learn

Young People's Theatre GuildOne of the goals of YPTG is to help youth learn the skills of live theater. Whether the young person is an actor, student director, or working behind the scenes, there are many different skills that they can develop which include stage directions, memorization skills, make-up and costume design, acting and developing a character, singing, poise and composure in front of others, line delivery techniques, leadership skills, and the ability to direct others.

Life Long Effects

Young People's Theatre GuildThere are many other skills that our performers learn. They acquire attributes that are used in other areas of their lives and throughout their lives. It carries over to their home, work place, and how they become productive citizens for their community. These skills can affect almost every facet of their lives. Some of these skills are socialization, leadership, confidence and self-esteem, teamwork skills, commitment, and pride in accomplishing a project.

Community Benefits

Young People's Theatre GuildA community is a group of people working together and so are the people involved in the Young People Theatre Guild. We are a group of children, parents, and volunteers working together to provide a service for our area youth that can benefit our community in many ways such as building relationships with children from other area schools, providing an outlet for creativity, and providing entertainment for the community.
